Cause/Effect Relationship Between Android Development and Mobile Industry

Mobile Industry is experiencing a devastating change phenomenon. A small communicating handset has transformed into a mini computer maintaining its original functionality also. Numerous Companies have integrated the qualities of computer on mobile phones for enhanced functioning. Experience Google's role in this dynamism.

Google is a supreme power for the past decade in the web industry. It processes billions of search requests every day. However, Google's dominance is only limited to desktop PC, which is gradually being replaced by the small screen mobile devices. Every year sale of mobile is increasing; currently it is three times more as compared to desktop. The launch of Android OS is Google tactic to expand its infiltration into the speedily growing profitable mobile market.

The Android platform is Google's outstanding business model. Android technology is an entirely open-source platform. Developers can create mobile applications by using the phone's core features. Android developers equipped with the tools that allow applications to collect data using a variety of the platform like the Internet or other users.

The Android OS committed to bringing the same experience users have on a desktop personal computer to the mobile phone. Mostly, mobile phones operate in a closed environment where applications permitted by the producer can be allowed to run on devices. However, With Google's Android, software developers can install any software they develop, quickly. The cost reduction in application development opens a new market segment for software developers.

Google is the owner of multibillion dollar advertising business on the web and planning to shift this to the mobile domain. Smaller display screen is a big challenge to advertising space. In spites of some limitation, mobile devices have opened the new doors of opportunities due to location based adverting. Market can target directly to potential consumers. All Androids mobile devices are connected to the Internet to help achieve location-based advertising services.

In this competitive world, developing space in the market is not an easy task not even for the big boss like Google. There are numbers of barriers for Google before reaching the success point. The main obstacle to Android's victory is the indolence with which mobile network service providers are adopting Android machine.

The Google's Android mobile OS have also faced opposition from phone manufacturers for multiple reasons. Some of them feel that operators and users will totally re-customize phone application that makes their own applications useless and destroys their unique identity. Others fear mobile OS without licensing fees could flood new company into the market. This will adversely affect their market share for the existing mobile company.

Mobile Malware - How to Protect Yourself and Keep Your Information Safe

Imagine your closest friend standing next to you. Now imagine your closest friend betraying all of your secrets. And making a handsome profit whilst doing so. Now picture your smartphone inside your handbag or pocket. Picture your smartphone sending your passwords, banking information, e-mails, and private information to some stranger. And picture that stranger making a handsome profit. That is mobile malware.

What is mobile malware, really?
In more technical terms, mobile malware is the spread of malicious software (hence "mal-ware") among wireless devices. Mobile Malware is unpleasant stuff. It could compromise the information on a mobile device, and there have even been cases of compromised devices used to pull information from Personal computers (hijacking USB synchronization). Mobile malware is yet another growing fraud category which involves infecting mobile devices with viruses and Trojan horses that may force a mobile phone to do unauthorized activities, like making phone calls and deleting or stealing information.

Once installed on a device, mobile malware replicates itself and performs undesired activities, such as using network services like SMS or voice to make calls to PRS numbers or to subscribe to unwanted billing schemes; data theft, where the user's personal phone records such as contact lists and account details are stolen, sent to a third-party, and erased on the handset; and launching distributed DoS attacks intent on forcing a legitimate service to fail.

Not only is mobile malware a threat to individuals, it is also a huge security risk to businesses. It has the potential to commandeer a corrupted smartphone and use it as a proxy or gateway into an organization's central network. By commandeering a handheld device, cyber criminals can waltz past a standard firewall program and make their way onto a company's email server, client database, Customer relationship management tools, and other essential parts of the network. Damage of this magnitude can grow from something very small, such as a member of staff getting a message to download a free game or software update.

Mobile Malware is rapidly increasing
Mobile malware is on the rise for several reasons and it is following the Law of Computer Virus Evolution:

The Law of Computer Virus Evolution
In order for malicious programs targeting a particular operating system or platform to emerge, three conditions need to be fulfilled:
1. The platform must be popular
2. There must be well-documented development tools
3. The presence of vulnerabilities or coding errors

The widespread adoption of 3G (and soon 4G) and Wi-Fi connectivity and huge hard drives are other factors contributing to the increase of mobile malware infection. In fact, malware activity in 2010 increased 46 per cent over 2009.

The good news is that practically all mobile malware threats call for some type of effort on the part of the user. Malware can't magically appear on your phone. It usually happens after a user downloads a malicious app and the recent DroidDream incident reveals that mobile malware is more advanced than ever before.

How to stop mobile malware and protect yourself
Keeping a close eye on the app stores is a must, as Google proved. Google banished about 50 free applications from its app store immediately after it was found out that the titles hid a Trojan horse designed to steal users' information. The applications, which included pirated and copycat versions of legitimate Android titles, had been downloaded tens of thousands of times before Google took corrective action.

The best way to protect your mobile device (and yourself) is to take a layered approach to mobile security. Before you download that shiny new app, look at its permissions. An app shouldn't receive more permissions that what it needs. For example, a simple notepad app shouldn't need unrestricted access to the internet. Also, don't download apps from unauthorized or illegitimate app stores.

The second layer should be a very good antivirus app on your phone, and the third layer should be a firewall. If you choose wisely, the second and third security layers can be found wrapped up in a mobile security app.

How to choose an effective mobile security app
An typical mobile security solution will have capabilities that assist in operating the program and efficiently protecting the device. A very good mobile security application will include things like antivirus, antispam and firewall protection with realtime security. An exceptional mobile security application will have all of the preceding, as well as sms protection, remote wipe (in case your smartphone is stolen), and gps location (again, in case your smartphone is stolen).

What is the best mobile security app?
Ask ten experts and you'll get ten different answers. This question is almost as hotly debated as "what's the best antivirus software for my computer?" In order to narrow down my choices, I used the criteria mentioned above to come up with a list of mobile security applications. As you can see, many of the desktop giants of antivirus software have developed mobile versions of their software. The list isn't comprehensive, but it will give you a good starting point.

Apple iPad 2 - The New Generation of Mobile Computing

More than 15 million iPads sold, Apple is now releasing second generation of this incredible machine. This new iPad adds many new features that were missing from the first one, while keeping the old ones that every iPad user has learned to love.

One feature that many wanted to have in the first generation iPad was camera and that's why iPad 2 has not one but two cameras. Front-facing VGA resolution camera for video calls and another one at the back for capturing 720p HD video.

Using the latest version of iOS and Apple's new dual-core A5 processor, iPad 2 is going to deliver much faster performance. Even twice as fast the older iPad claimed by Apple. The graphic performance is said to be nine times faster than in the old iPad. New version of iOS let's you change the mute switch to a rotation lock.

Other features are, support for enhanced 3G connection and HDMI output that enables users to display the iPad 2 screen on any HD screen. Like the iPad, the iPad 2 is available with Wi-Fi + 3G or just Wi-Fi.

Almost all available apps on the App Store will work on iPad 2, including more than 65,000 native iPad apps. Old users of Apple App Store know that you can find app for almost anything.

iPad 2 has completely new design. It's 33 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than the first one so it's going to be even easier to handle. The screen in iPad 2 is the same one as in the first one, 9.7 inch LCD screen with LED backlight and with the same resolution of 1024 x 768 so you can easily use the same wallpapers as in old one.

While new iPad 2 is smaller, lighter and uses much more powerful technology it still delivers 10 hour battery life and it's available in two colors, black and white.

This new iPad is missing few of upgrades that people were waiting. Like memory card slot and better display but these are surely going to be in next version.

So should you update your old iPad? If you want the cameras and more powerful hardware in a smaller package with the same price as the older iPad, you should. If you are happy with the older one right now you probably shouldn't update.

If you don't own any tablet yet you might want to wait and see what other companies are going offer in near future.

Anti-Theft Solutions for Mobile Devices: How Reliable Are They?

Laptops, iPads, Smartphone's, e-book readers all have one thing in common - they are all lightweight as well as portable. This is one of the biggest reasons why they have become so popular in the past few years. And, this is also one of the biggest reasons why they are so easy to misplace or steal.

A computer security survey recently showed that nearly 42 percent of people reported that their laptops or portable devices had been lost to a thief or simply misplaced. Studies have also shown that nearly 12,000 laptops are lost in American airports every week. Only a third of these are reclaimed in the airport lost and found departments. Owing to these statistics, most victims of laptop or mobile device theft assume that they are simply gone for good.

No matter how hard you try to keep an eye on your device and not leave it unattended, there are still very high chances that it can go missing or get stolen. This is why it is best to protect your device with a software. There are many good anti-theft solutions available for laptops, phones and tablets today. Many of these will help you by locating the computer as soon as it is connected to the Internet. Others take snapshots, log keystrokes and monitor emails being written. Some even go to the extreme of slyly taking pictures of the unauthorized user with the device's built-in webcam.

What's more, many of these anti-theft devices can even lock down a stolen computer and display certain on-screen messages that will let the user (not necessarily the thief) know that computer has been stolen and should be returned to a certain address.

Most anti-theft manufacturers claim to have 90 percent recovery rates, but none of these manufacturers actually have any kind of documentation proving this. This leaves us with the question - How reliable are anti-theft devices?

Like any other product, there are plenty of anti-theft devices that are a sham. But on the other hand, there are many that are extremely reliable as well! Snuko's anti-theft software is one such reliable solution for mobile devices. It offers security solutions for both computers as well as mobile phones. In the case of a theft or loss, this software will help the user retrieve the hardware as well as the valuable data that was stored on the device. Here are a few reasons why Snuko is so reliable:

Snuko on the other hand offers full services for a price range that is adjusted to the mass market, thus allowing practically anyone with a mobile device to use this service.Snuko adapts to the ever-changing needs of the customers at a much faster pace than most competitors. New features and applications are churned out at a faster pace as well.Piracy of the software is virtually impossible as all the license keys are created by random algorithms.Above all, Snuko has had a higher proven rate of success than most of its competitors.

Yes, anti-theft devices like Snuko are here to stay. Every laptop, personal computer, Smartphone or ebook reader should have Snuko installed on to it for added security.
